It depends on what you like. Some of my personal favorites downtown are Heaven on Seven, Grand Lux, Fogo de Chao, Portillo's, Maggiano's. You can check Metromix for others, based on your own preferences.

I recommend RoseAngelis - great little neighborhood Italian place near Wrightwood and Racine. Affordable and very romantic.Where are some really good restaurants in chicago?
Marche in west town on Randolph is really good, so is Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Deleece on Southport.
