The Cheesecake Factory is pretty moderately priced, but the portions are outrageous, so you can do a lot of sharing.

Grand Lux Cafe on Michigan has some great window seats and family friendly eats. You can try an Odyssey cruise for lunch. There are some coupons online that may make it affordable. The Dining Room at Kendall College has soaring windows that frame the cityscape from a third-floor dining room. Many chefs get their start here and both the food and scene is fantastic. This restaurant is not located downtown, but rather close to the west loop area of the city. You must call ahead to get reservations. Because the entire restaurant is run by chefs in training, it is very affordable. Pegasus on Halsted (Greektown) has a superb rooftop patio if the weather is nice with wonderful views of the cityscape. They sell small plates of Greek food which are delicious and affordable.
