What are some good German restaurants in Chicago?

Are there any good, authentic, and not too pricey German restaurants that you know of in the Chicago area.



Anything helps and websites would be nice too.

just go to Lincoln Square :) it's like little Germany, it's adorable

There is also a German fest there every summer.

It's on Lincoln Street and Lawrence :)

The Berghoff south loop is one of the oldest German eats in the City. Very traditional, but a new owner came :-( so there are some fusion type dishes. I'd get the sauerbraten, but ask for spatzel. It's worth the trip to Milwaukee and go to Mader's, which is the best German food in the midwest. Also, you can go to the 'burbs on North Ave and 355 and hit up Schnitzel Platz (Name may have changed). They have very good oxtail soup and schnitzel.
If you look at an online yellow pages you can find restaurants by their features, specialty, cuisine, etc. like German! There is a wide variety of options. There is one German food place called Chicago Brauhaus off of Lincoln Ave. that you can check out and see how it is!!
Another vote for the Berghoff. It's not really in the south Loop at 17 W Adams. It was closed for a couple years but has been in the same location for about 80 yrs:
