And if you want someplace that's a secret, go to the Ritz Carlton's "coffee shop" casual restaurant. It's not very expensive, never a wait, the food is great and if you ask nice, you can order off the main dining room menu -- especially for desserts. :-)|||Frontera Grill (high quality Mexican) or Gibson's (steak house) would be my choices.|||If you dont mind a wait, go to Mia Francesa on Aldine/Clark. Call it "mia" if you want to look in the know. They dont take reservations and it is always crowded. There is a reason. It has

Great Italian food, is a TRUE neighborhood "joint" and incredibly well priced. It will cost half of those other restaurants previouisly mentioned--all of which are touristy, overly expensive and lack the feel you are looking for.

A real Chicago neighborhood steak house might be Club Lucky (has an Italian Slant) in Bucktown or Outpost in Lakeveiw.

Costas in Greektown will give you a true Chicago Experience as well.

Enjoy.|||My favorite place for steak was The Burgundy Inn. Casual old school dining. But i've heard it's closed...

For fancier times Carmichael's always cooks my steak to perfection.

And although there will be tourists there, if you haven't done Fogo de Chao I highly recommend it. The "salad" bar is worth the price alone. For serious meat eaters it is not to be missed.

http://www.fogodechao.com/locations/chic鈥?/a>|||lou malnatis pizza. Ed Debevicks. Ginos East. there all good|||For breakfast go to Lou Mitchells. Great skillet breakfasts and coffee. For pizza go to Giordanos. They have several around the city. Some like Pizza Uno or Pizza Duo. There are lots of those too.

Chicago Chop House is good. If $32 for a steak is too much, then try Lawry's Prime Rib (***) $$ Casual

100 E. Ontario St., (312) 787-5000|||go to Gean and Geogettes, it is at least as good as Gibsons, with out the tourist, but it is kind of big bucks

or you could just get the Zagats book at the libary, and they could tell you|||You should try Harry Caray's Restaurant. Great menu and very nice. A little more casual would be Boston Blackie's. It's just off Michigan Avenue but not very touristy. Finally, the Billy Goat Tavern. It does get a bit noisy, but it's worth it. The Billy Goat is really a piece of traditional Chicago....

That is three very different choices for you.. Hope it helps...|||I totally agree with nicksimac...

Go to My Pi for pizza. It is in the Lincoln Park area

http://food312.com/italian/my-pi-pizza.h鈥?/a>

I did not like the touristy pizza in Chicago when I lived there for 5 years until I finally found My Pi.

There is also a place called Piece on Fullerton that is cool as well.|||Go to 'My Pi'.. NOT Ginos East.. Ginos east is going to be way to touristy.. My Pi is on the north side, quiet, and delicious pizza! It is in a great neighborhood on the north side.. Right on Clark st...

and Ed Debevics is Stupid!

If you want a little more pricey food, but great! Go to the 'RL' (Ralph Lauren) restaurant on Chicago ave and Michigan ave.. You'll need to get reservations but it is a MUST in Chicago..
