In Chicago, are there any restaurants near the Greyhound bus station?

I may be taking a bus trip in a few months, and it looks like I'll have a long layover there. What sorts of eateries would be within walking distance of the station? Also, does the bus station have any public showers available? That would improve my mood quite a bit.In Chicago, are there any restaurants near the Greyhound bus station?
It kind of depends on whether your layover is at 2:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. - it makes a big difference.

The Greektown district is a short distance. Come out the Harrison Street exit and turn right (west) and go over the expressway (about two blocks) to Halsted St and turn right (north) and go over the expressway again and Greektown begins. There are fancy (casual attire OK) restaurants like Greek Gardens and the Parthenon and also a lot a small gyros-type shops.

Or you could head toward the Union Station area. If you are there during the breakfast/lunch hours (5:30 am to 3:00 pm), Lou Mitchell's (cash only) at 565 W Jackson is a Chicago institution. Head left (east) one block on Harrison, turn left (north) at Jefferson, go under the expressway about 3 blocks to Jackson and turn right. You will be near Union Station and there will be lots of places to eat in the vicinity.

If you really have a lot of time and want to walk further, you can venture into the Loop (the main business district). Just keep walking east on Jackson (across the river) until you pass under the 'L' (elevated train) tracks. Lots of restaurants there. You might want to try another Chicago institution, the Berghoff. It is on Adams, which is one block north of Jackson, between State Street and Dearborn.

A shower in the Greyhound station? There are not even any signs telling you which gate your bus will be leaving from or any schedule boards. (You just gotta "know.") Be grateful if you find a chair. But at least they cleaned up the place from what the old station was. The pimps and prostitutes are not obvious if you are not looking for them and it is fairly safe if you hang onto your belongings and don't fall asleep.
