Good chicago restaurants?

My dad is coming to visit me in chicago, and I am a student there, so I know of some places to go for dinner, but most of the places I know are little mom and pop amazing quick eating kind of restaurants and he wants to take me out to a nice dinner, and due to my budget it's not necessarily like my friends and i are out exploring the local restaurants. We usually go to the Fireplace Inn, but I wanted to mix it up a little bit. What are some good places I could take him (that aren't chain restaurants) but that will be fun to take him to?Good chicago restaurants?
The Italian Village is nice. Good food.

I like Heaven on Seven more casual, I like the original location on the 7th floor of the Garland Building.

Can't go wrong with any of the restaurants that Rick Bayless has his hand in.

Why not get some f=good ideas by checking out http://www.restaurant.com put in the location you want to search and you can check out the menus and prices of all the restaurants that participate.

If you choose to buy a certificate it will reduce the cost of your meal a bit. Who doesn't love saving a few dollars these days.

If you use the code "steak" when you check out you can save even more. A $25.00 certificate will cost you $3.00 the code is good through August 23.Good chicago restaurants?
Go to Harry Carreys by Wrigley Field. Great atmoshphere, fun surroundings, then try to get tickets and take in a game. Also like Cheesecake Factory uptown by the Hancock building, great cheesecake and other foods are great. Lots to do up there and can walk around afterwards.Good chicago restaurants?
