This summer me and my BFF will be working at one pub-restaurant in Chicago (downtown) as a waitresses/hostesses.
We would like to know if our wages 4.75$/h(waitress) and 10$/h(hostess) aren't too low, are taxes included and what tips should we be expecting.
Thank you :)xHow much would a waiter/waitress's salary be in CHICAGO?
The waitress rate is actually pretty high. And the hostess rate is about right. As far as tips go, it depends on your clientele and the cost of the food served. Usually 20% can be expected for good service, although, that varies greatly depending on the quality of service and food. Some establishments request that the hostess is tipped. However, with her decent hourly rate, Im not sure that will happen at this particular restaurant. There are so many variables, but I think you two are off to a decent start. It's all up to your customers, now! :)How much would a waiter/waitress's salary be in CHICAGO?
What you will get is what you will get. Multiply the hourly rate by the number of hours. If you will be getting tips, don't count on a very high percentage because the unemployment rate in general in Chicago is almost 20 percent. Customers can not afford to leave much more than 8 or 10 percent tips, if any. Good luck!!How much would a waiter/waitress's salary be in CHICAGO?
do the math....
