Best restaurant in Chicago by the Mile?

Myself and 6 friends are going to Chicago for a few days for New years. What are some great restaurant options. More trendy kinda different restaurants? Any price range, just within close range to the mile. Thanks!Best restaurant in Chicago by the Mile?
Chicago is one of the best restaurant cities in the country. It really depends what you want to spend and if you are looking for a gourmet experience or a more of a trendy restaurant/club that also has very good food. While Spiaggia is definitely among the best for a true dining experience and RL has very good food in a more sedate atmosphere (same management as Gibsons), somewhere like Japponais is very lively and just a short cab ride from the Mag Mile and you can stay and party there in the downstairs club. Gibson's is on Rush Street and the place for a great steak and a scene. I normally don't promote New York based restauranteurs in Chicago, but David Burke's Prime House is excellent, cool and there's a happening bar there, too.

Note: At this point, if you don't already have a reservation to a top-notch place, it won't be easy to get one. If you have your heart set on a dining experience somewhere that's booked, it never hurts to let them know you'd be available if they have a cancellation.
Carson's is a MUST! Best ribs ever! 612 N. Wells StBest restaurant in Chicago by the Mile?
RL (ralph Lauren restaurant) good food but kinda pricey.

I've eaten there many times. SOOOOO GOOD
Really, there is no doubt that it is Tru. Very expensive, and hard to get in on short notice. RL is good and expensive, but not really in the same league as Tru.

Spiaggia is a great Italian, and the hotels have great places as well: Avenues, Dining Room at the Ritz, Seasons, NoMi.

You should definitely look them up, since these are all quite expensive and there are a lot of different types of places.

If you are looking for a great steak, try the Saloon.Best restaurant in Chicago by the Mile?
Ditka's on Chestnut, by the Hancock Tower, is good.

Fulton's on the River is also nice.

Do yourself a favor and take a $5 cab ride to Old Town and try some restaurants there. Topo Gigio is great italian and not too expensive. Adobo Grill is very good Mexican food as well. Plus, you'll get out of touristy madness of the Mag Mile for a little bit! :)
If you like seafood I highly recomend Shaw's Crab House .They have the freshest seafood you can find.If you go there during crab season . They have fresh not frozen crab!! Also their selection of fresh oysters can't be beat. They have an oyster bar or you can dine in their elegant yet friendly dining room. The wait staff is very well trained and knowledgable . My personal experiance there I hope to repeate soon.
If you like seafood you have to try Shaw's Crab House.
