If you go to the restaurant locator on the McDonald's web you can find the answer, but it will take a little work because of the size city that Chicago is. Because locations change freqently - in most cases more open up - the web site states that McDonalds will no longer print lists of their stores because the info frequently changes.



On the link below you can only list 20 stores at a time. But if you keep selecting the button "show me more locations" you can see the next 20 locations.



Because Chicago is longer on its south side than its north, and because the search lists all of the locations from the center point of the city listed you have to keep scrolling until you don't see "Chicago" listed as a city anymore. For example you will see locations in Berwyn and Evanston before you see all of the Chicago stores.



If you include all locations including those in airport terminals, as of right now McDonald's has 126 locations within the Chicago City limits.

The outlying area of the city also have more than one most times. My GUESS is that there are well over 500

I wouldn't say a TON. But there are enough McDonald's to go around. There are approximately 126 McDonald's locations in Chicago.
