Where are some of the most elegant restaurants in chicago?

I think that North Pond in Lincoln Park is excellent. I made reservations for my fiance's birthday. We ended up doing the chef's tasting, which was amazing, but expensive. The views of the Lake are beautiful and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our meal/experience was enjoyable. They customized the menu for us, offered a shawl since I was cold and recommended wine for each course.

I've never gone, but always wanted to try Charlie Trotters. I think the next best thing is to order from Trotter's To Go on Fullerton.Where are some of the most elegant restaurants in chicago?
Elegant or expensive? Riva on Navy Pier is expensive and elegant. They have a guy in the restroom who will direct you to an open urinal. How elegant is that?

I had the pleasure of dinning at Great Street in the Renaissance Marriott. Wonderful views of the city and a great menu. Four of us went and each dish was superb.
