There are two in the Uptown area that I always liked; in that little Asian area around Broadway and Argyle.
Thai Pastry had delicious food. We never had a bad dish there, the garlic beef was amazingly good and the staff was very friendly. They're dirt cheap, too.
Ben's Noodles and Rice is a little more upscale (and more expensive) but also quite good. My wife thought their Pad Thai was some of the best in the city and I loved their fried rice dishes.
Tac Quick is one of the best and most authentic and inexpensive. Awesome food. Take the Red line El to the Sheridan stop.

Other good Thai restaurants are Spoon, Sticky Rice, Yes Thai, Roseded, Opart Thai, Thai Avenue, Siam Noodle and Rice
Don't go to any of the Thai restaurants downtown, they are all Americanized and the food is way too sweet.
