Should Taste of Chicago be limited to restaurants in Chicago only?

The City of Chicago has announced plans to limit Taste of Chicago to restaurants that has locations in Chicago only, and not restaurants that only has suburban locations, and 5 of these places including dessert places Aunt Diana's Candy Makers and Celebration Creamery, that are not in Chicago, they aren't not allowed to participate in Taste of Chicago this year. And I am not sure how about in the future as well, but read this story http://www.chicagobreakingbusiness.com/2鈥?/a> . I know that it is called Taste of Chicago, but should only restaurants that has locations in Chicago, should they be able to take part in Taste of Chicago, and not also restaurants that only has locations in the suburbs only, and why or why not.Should Taste of Chicago be limited to restaurants in Chicago only?
It should be limited to Chicago only! It is not the Taste of Naperville or the Taste of Arlington Heights or the Taste of Evanston or the Taste of Shaumburg.

The 'burbs are NOT Chicago. They can have their own Taste of the Burbs if they want to.

Additional details: With all due respect Adam, Oak Park is not Chicago and Northwestern is not a Chicago university. Is Springfield, IL part of Chicago too? Is Rockford considered Chicago? Where do you draw the line between city proper and the 'burbs, or a completely different city? If a burb is on the very outskirts of Cook County does that make it "Chicago" or a city unto itself?

Plus, there are more than enough restaurants in the actual city of Chicago without having to open up the "Taste of Chicago" to include restaurants from the 'burbs. It is not waaaaay too restrictive. And, FLW was a native son of Wisconsin, not Chicago, he just happened to design some homes in Oak Park...and Arizona...and Pennslyvania...and finally, if you were born in Oak Park, you are not from Chicago. It's funny how people from the burbs always want to be included in the city, but don't even live there.
I think it should be limited to Chicago/metro restaurants but not to those strictly within the city. That's waaaaaaaay too restrictive. There are lots of places in the 'burbs that are Chicago institutions even though they're not in the city proper. Does that mean I have to stop saying I'm from Chicago because I was born in Oak Park? Is Johnny's not a "real" Chicago italian beef because it's in Elmwood Park? Is (was) Kiddie Land not a Chicago amusement park?

Nothwestern is based in Evanston; guess they're not a Chicago university, either. You lose any claim to Frank Lloyd Wright or Ernest Hemingway, too.Should Taste of Chicago be limited to restaurants in Chicago only?
In my opinion, it should be limited to Chicago. I go to many of the burb tastes... There are so many great restaurants, from American to Ethnic...wow, its going to be great...can't wait... Still, I say only Chicago, wanna get a taste of Chicago, then come on down and see what the city of Chicago has to offer.
Yes Chicago only is fine.

They're promoting Chicago, Chicagos' restaurants %26amp; Chicago to be a destination of choice for eating or site seeing.

If you want suburban then go tho the Taste of Melrose or the Taste of LaGrange.Should Taste of Chicago be limited to restaurants in Chicago only?
I think the restaurants should be in Chicago, and I don't see a problem if they are on the suburbs..that is technically still Chicago.
Taste of Chicago was started to promote Chicago restaurants not suburban restaurants.

It is not restrictive to limit the Taste to Chicago restaurants.

I am not sure if I were an owner and had been participating in the Taste for years how I would feel about now being excluded. It may have been better if the participants that had been included in the last year were "grandfathered in" and as they dropped out the spots filled with city restaurants.

Space is at a premium and I am sure that there are many city vendors that would love to participate but can not because there is no space.

Most suburbs at some point during the summer hold a "Taste of............" type of celebration. The suburban vendors have a better chance of attracting local customers by participating in one of the local carnivals or celebrations than they do in expending time and resources to participate in the Taste of Chicago.
