Places to go in Chicago: better than average restaurants, bars and a day time place?

Hi.

I will be in Chicago with a friend on Wed. and will stay there on Thursday.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with some city information.

I need a better than average restaurant, at least two better than average bars/bistros (live music clubs are better actually...) and at least a place to see during day time.. Places around N. Michigan Ave. would be better if possible..
