Good breakfast spots:

The Bongo Room
Chicago style hot dog places:
Weiner's Circle
Portillo's
Hot Doug's
Super Dawg
Don't go to Cheesecake. It's a chain restaurant. Go to one of Rick Bayless' places like Frontera or Xoco or Paul Kahan's restaurant's like Avec, Blackbird or Publican.
Heaven on Seven or The Purple Pig
Giordano's Pizza is a must taste for real Chicago Pizza
Garrett's Popcorn, must have the Chicago Mix
Portillo's Hotdogs, get the Chicago Dog
Al's Beef for the Italian Beef Sandwich
Maxwekk Street for the Polish Sausage
This will give anyone a real taste of chicagoBest chicago restaurants?
Ann Sather's is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Chicago.
Take your pick of four locations. The one of Belmont is the original.
909 W. Belmont, (773)348-2378 (Lake View)
3416 N. Southport,(773)404-4475 (Southport Corridor)
3411 N. Broadway, (773)305-0024 (Lake View)
5207 N. Clark, (773)271-6677 (Andersonville)
What began as a beloved pancake house in 1945, has morphed into a Chicago favorite now owned by 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney. The cinnamon rolls are a must for the full experience.
There are SO MANY GREAT RESTAURANTS besides the chains in Chicago. Huey's hotdogs in Andersonville on the north side will give you very economical hot dogs and fries. You can get awesome mexican at Mixteco Grill, also on the North side; it rivals Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill, which is a must do if you can afford it and don't mind waiting. Hopleaf in Andersonville has HUNDREDS of craft and imported beers on tap and in bottles and really good euro-american organic cusine. Piece Pizza in Wicker park is delicious. If you're vegetarian or vegan, try the Chicago Diner in wicker park. And this is all just on the North side. If you're looking for more recommendations, check out Check Please! a program on PBS with reviews of neighborhood restaurants. Good luck and enjoy dining in chicago.Best chicago restaurants?
Of course it will all depend where you will be located. Chicago has relatively few big name chain restaurants. Why would anybode go to a cheesecake factory in Chicago. You have one in every city.
For something unique I certainly like Topolobampo or Frontera or any Rick Bayless establishment. Mexican food, different than anythng in the USA. There are 452 hot dog places listed in Chicagoland.. I want to try Hotdogueria. a new place in Lincoln Park. They have dogs from many different countries. Also
Hot Dougs is just great.
Portillo's italian beef...even though a lot of people might argue that Al's Beef has better beef
I'm personally a fan of Super Dog for hot dogs
You should get Lou Malnati's or Gino's East for pizza
Looking for something romantic, try Geja's Cafe for AMAZING fondue
And for the best burger, go to Kuma's...it has been featured on Food Network and Travel Channel
ronny's steakhouse in downtown chicago. its the coolest place. i love ordering the food there because its kind of cafeteria style, and theres so much good food, you end up buying way too much.
No one mentioned the best hot dog place in the Chicago area...Gene and Jude's.
Voted #1 hot dog place in America by Rachel Ray.
River Grove, IL
