This summer me and my BFF will be working at one pub-restaurant in Chicago (downtown) as a waitresses/hostesses.
We would like to know if our wages 4.75$/h(waitress) and 10$/h(hostess) aren't too low, are taxes included and what tips should we be expecting.
Thank you :)xHow much would a waiter/waitress's salary be in CHICAGO?
The waitress rate is actually pretty high. And the hostess rate is about right. As far as tips go, it depends on your clientele and the cost of the food served. Usually 20% can be expected for good service, although, that varies greatly depending on the quality of service and food. Some establishments request that the hostess is tipped. However, with her decent hourly rate, Im not sure that will happen at this particular restaurant. There are so many variables, but I think you two are off to a decent start. It's all up to your customers, now! :)How much would a waiter/waitress's salary be in CHICAGO?
What you will get is what you will get. Multiply the hourly rate by the number of hours. If you will be getting tips, don't count on a very high percentage because the unemployment rate in general in Chicago is almost 20 percent. Customers can not afford to leave much more than 8 or 10 percent tips, if any. Good luck!!How much would a waiter/waitress's salary be in CHICAGO?

My husband and i are looking for a romantic restaurant in Chicago!?
We are thinking about the Signature Room, but would like to see if there are any other restaurants that have the same view. Do you know of any? Are they any good? I did a search for one and don't really know what to look for. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated! ThanksMy husband and i are looking for a romantic restaurant in Chicago!?
Moe B has a really good answer.
Blackbird is also a very good restaurant.
I would not recommend the Signature Room for dinner. Go there for a drink before or after dinner. The view is spectacular, but the food is not so great.
A better alternative would be Everest which is a Chicago institution and has a great view from the 40th floor atop the Midwest Stock Exchange. It is very expensive.
Another good choice would be North Pond. Beautiful scenery views of Lincoln Park.
I would recommend the following for a romantic dinner:
Japonais
One SixtyBlue
Le Colonial - love this place. Get a table upstairs.
Vivere or Trattoria #10My husband and i are looking for a romantic restaurant in Chicago!?
If you like Italian food the Italian Village on Monroe is a great restaurant. There are three in the building, the one upstairs has these great little alcoves where you will be by yourselves and very secluded. After dinner then go the the Signature Room for drinks.
I really liked Nomi! I had a date there on a rainy day and even then the view of the Water Tower and beyond was spectacular! If it is clear there is an amazing view of the lake and the food was tasty too! Not sure what you want to spend... They weren't snooty either, just a really great experience! My husband and i are looking for a romantic restaurant in Chicago!?

What's the best casual dining restaurant in Chicago?
I'm looking for something beyond the usual Chili's/Bennigans type stuff.
My only real reservation is that I'm not very fond of Asian food, especially sushi and Japanese.
If the prices are good too, then please mention that! What's the best casual dining restaurant in Chicago?
grand lux or giordanos!!
If you don't mind a chain-type environment, we always go for Max and Erma's (I especially recommend the margaritas and the burgers). If you want somewhere a little more low-key and urban, you can try Clark's or Connie's.What's the best casual dining restaurant in Chicago?
If you love pizza and who doesn't love pizza?! you must go to Lou Malnati and if you enjoy it as much as I think you will, they will pies anywhere in the US. Bon Appetit!

quartino is great italian... 1492 tapas is great for tapas, bandera on Michigan Ave is good as well. What's the best casual dining restaurant in Chicago?
There used to be a chain (I think it was about 7) in the Chicago area called "Leona's" - it was italian, but had great chicken too. If they are still there, you should go! :) Best foo I ever ate! It did cost about $50 for two, but we had drinks too.
Good luck! :)
Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinders is awesome...
2121 NORTH CLARK STREET
CHICAGO, IL 60614
773-248-2570
It's the best, but you do want to get there early like 4pm, or be prepared to wait 2-3 hours, but it's good stuff... they have a website at
http://www.chicagopizzaandovengrinder.com/
Cheesecake factory!! They have burgers and sandwhiches as well!
I used to hang out Grace O麓Malleys bar when I lived in Chicago, and love it-close to downtown. with a variety of food on the menu.
http://www.mainstayhospitality.com/index鈥?/a>
(1) Cafe Iberico !!! they serve spanish food that is so good!
(2) Carmine's at downtown Chicago - italian
(3) Buffalo Joe's - American; Chicken wings, Cheddar Chips/fries and burgers
(4) Bob Chinn's - seafood/steak place
I second Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinders.
The pizza is different from anything you know as pizza. The ingredients are put in a bowl, then the crust is placed over the bowl and baked. At the table, the server flips the bowl over and you are left with the crust as the bowl and the ingredients inside.
Their oven-grinders are also outstanding. An oven Grinder is a baked sub sandwich. I alternate each time I go between pizza and an Oven Grinder.
Also, try the Mediterranean Bread as an appetizer. It also is delicious.
Lastly, if you go when it is crowded, you will be amazed by the host/maitre d'. He will ask how many are in your party, but not write anything down. About an hour or so later he will come and find you and seat your party. If you notice the people milling about, waiting, you will notice that he pretty much has seated you in the proper order.
Definitely a fun time with friends!

What's the best Italian restaurant in Chicago?
I'm looking for a place to go that serves homestyle Italian cuisine that could be right from your Grandmas's kitchen. Where's the best place to go in Chicago? What's the best Italian restaurant in Chicago?
I think Ignotz is great. Very reasonably priced, and everything I've tried there has been delicious. Plus it has that nice neighborhoody feel to it. Enjoy! :)
Giordanos!!What's the best Italian restaurant in Chicago?
I like Monasteros on Devon Ave. just east of Pulaski. It has been there for over 40 years, the family runs it. They have singing waitors and the food is delicious.
RoSal's Italian Cucina on Taylor Street. Best Italian food around!!What's the best Italian restaurant in Chicago?
Try "Coco Pazzo." At Coco Pazzo, the focus is a straightforward dedication to the essence of Tuscan cuisine and culture.
The Scene
Dramatic velvet curtains frame windows and separate sections of this loft space, a favorite of River North diners. Rustic wood floors, exposed beams, soft lighting and whimsical centerpieces take the edge off serious business.
The Food
The menu offers carefully planned, lusty Italian fare. Start with grilled oyster mushrooms, toasty and peppery, over baby spinach. Other antipasti include cod croquettes, calamari, wild boar ragu and seared beef carpaccio. Creative entrees include pheasant breast, Peking duck, venison, veal and a 26-ounce rib eye. North Atlantic salmon wins high praise--sweet and moist, served with an earthy medley of Swiss chard, grapes and thyme. The lamb special (never on the menu, always offered) is a must. Pasta dishes are rich and flavorful, such as the farfalle pasta with mushrooms, peas, pesto-tomato sauce and goat cheese. Killer desserts include peanut- and chocolate-swirl ice cream with toasted peanuts.
Location:
300 W Hubbard St
Chicago, IL 60610
Phone: (312) 836-0900
La Trattoria is wonderful!
Bucco De Beppo or something that sounds like that (The spelling may be off). It is very family oriented and very good. The ravioli's are delicious.

Is american express IN CHICAGO a good credit card?
Ok. I have already only one credit card which is Chase Universal Mastercard which gives me only one point for each $1 purchase reedable for movie ticket from 900 points. I am thinking about getting a better reward card with low APR. I would like the card that which would give me extra points if I spent money at restaurants like arbys, sturbucks. I go to school in Chicago downtown everyday and I always have to buy some food. Even though I take with me, I am still hungry and I buy some. I am thinking about IN CHICAGO card but they don't say much about its benefits. They say it earns me double points in city essentials like dining but I don't know if all restaurants in chicago or only special. I f not AMEX I am thinking about Capital one, Citi, Bank of America, or still Chase. Could someone help me?Is american express IN CHICAGO a good credit card?
Amex is good card. They have buyer's protection and alot of offer partners. The only thing about amex is that the only card that has a good introductory rate does not earn you any points (Blue). But since you pay off your car every month, I suggest you get the only that offers either 3%-5% back or the one where you earn air/travel miles.
Another good reward card, is the Citi rewards card. you get points for every dollar you spend. you can redeem the points for all kinds of good stuff. https://www.thankyounetwork.com/Is american express IN CHICAGO a good credit card?
I have both a citi card and an amex card. When I buy electronic or items that may require some sort of dispute resolution I use amex. Otherwise, I always use my citi card. I prefer the rewards items you can redeem your points for :)
Let me know if you want chat so more.
american express is taken all over the world.have a great time God bless
American Express is not a very good card for a student, since it MUST be paid off monthly.
Capitol One doesn't honor it's rewards. Well, they honor their rewards, but it takes a lot to get them.
I don't know about Citi or BofA.
Chase is excellent with their rewards programs.vance and hines
